X2Go has a new bug tracker

After unofficially having tried the Horde bug tracker ,,Whups” for while, we now have switched to a new and official X2Go BTS (X2Go Bug Tracking System).

The X2Go Bug Tracker is based on debbugs, the software behind the Debian BTS. The system can be controlled by mail, the webfrontend is read-only.

For filing bugs, please send a mail to submit@bugs.x2go.org and provide at least these two lines at the beginning of  your mail:

Package: <package-name>

Version: <upstream-version>

Below these two lines try to give as precise as possible the observed problem / issue you have with the X2Go component referred to by <package-name>.

Thanks for your contributions to X2Go,

Mike Gabriel

unbelievable – there are so many modern bugtrackers, why did you choose that ancient thing. It´s not about taste, it´s about making it easy for “normal” users to report bugs! This is definitely not the case with debbugs.

    Hi Bughunter,

One of the greatest Linux distribution uses the debbugs BTS software. So, no reason to get worried.

And: we do not want normal users to report bugs against X2Go. Someone who can handle debbugs will probably also write propert bug reports. It’s rather a tool for us developers and for power users of X2Go.

The reason about a not easy bugtracker is more or less acceptable, but i dont think the idea of a bugtrack that cannot be acessed is a good idea. Now i want to report a bug concerning ssh-hpn support (hps support legacy ssh, but legacy clients have issues concerning buffers with hpn sshd), but how can i see if it a reported bug? I cant find any public link of the BTS (Wiki maybe broken?) and no system to consult quickly the bug list.

    Hi Leonardo,

I will sit down tonight and add some usage information for X2Go BTS to this wiki page: http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:bugs?idx=wiki:bugs
