Hello X2go users,

as promised we are introducing a new X2goclient for Windows today. Even if the version number is a bit of boring (the number is related to the update of all other X2go packages) this is really a big step of this piece of software. The most interesting changes are:

  • Windows 7 users can now install (and use) X2goclient for Windows
  • exotic (really exotic!) usernames can now use x2goclient
  • As X2goclient now contains an X-Server build from sources the installer of Xming is no longer part of this package
  • PulseAudio is now nativly build for X2goclient
  • sshd will not be started as system daemon any more
  • every X2coclient process starts a own Version of X, ssh and PulseAudio.
  • the session dpi can be adopted to the local display
  • for printing and viewing PDFs (X2goprint) it’s now possible to use the windows default PDF viewer application with winapi function “ShellExec” (If you use this option you won’t need ghostscript any more)

If you’d like to test it, please send us your opinion and discovered bugs. Please remove previously installed x2goclients and xmings (if you don’t need it any longer). A whole list of changes will be postet to our mailinglist.

Xgoclient 3.01-4 can be downloaded here:

Heinz & Alex

    Hi x2go team, I have a question about x2goclient.

After I install x2goclient and create a new session with 1024×768 size to login KDE enviroment, may I fix the size of window, let the window can’t be resize.

Because I have a scripting to reord the x11 screen when a normal user login some desktop enviroment. But, if a user can resize the window more that 1024×768, I can’t record the full size screen anymore.

Do you have any suggestion can help me? Orz…

    Best Regards.

    Hello Wesley,

you could try to solve this issue by using xrandr on the server (generic tool for X11 screen reisizing – not part of x2go). If a users desktop gets too big, you can adujust it with the command “xrandr -s 1024×768″.

    best regards,

    Heinz

U are my hero … you give me a light to let me survive in my company.
The command xrandr is very helpfully for me.
I will keep writing the script to record XWindow display.

How can I repay you ~ I will let my country(Taiwan) know about what is x2go.
    Thank you very much :)

The new version requires admin password for installation in MS Windows XP. Previous version did not.

Is there a reason for the admin privileges during installation?
